This position will focus on transition work for young People on Probation (PoPs) moving from Youth Offending Services into adult Probation services. The successful candidate will work closely with YOS colleagues to support safe, effective transitions and continuity of supervision.
The role will be split between the Probation Delivery Unit (PDU) office and the YOS office, requiring strong partnership working and communication across agencies.
£19.90 per hour PAYE or £26.20 per hour through an umbrella company

As a Probation Officer, you will work with individuals within the criminal justice system to support behavioural change, manage risk and contribute to reducing reoffending.
A key focus of this role will be supporting young people transitioning from Youth Offending Services into adult probation supervision, ensuring effective case management and collaboration between services.
The role may involve working across community settings and engaging with partner agencies to deliver high quality probation practice.
Manage a caseload of individuals on probation, supporting them to address offending behaviour.
Work collaboratively with Youth Offending Services (YOS) to support effective transitions of young people into adult probation services.
Assess risk, needs and strengths using recognised tools including OASys, SARA and RSR.
Prepare and deliver high quality reports including Court reports and parole reports.
Maintain accurate case records on systems such as NDelius and OASys.
Develop effective working relationships with criminal justice partners including courts, prisons, Approved Premises and external agencies.
Deliver and support accredited intervention programmes such as Building Better Relationships (BBR) or Thinking Skills Programme (TSP).
Contribute to risk management processes including Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) where required.
Provide guidance, mentoring and support to colleagues and operational staff where appropriate.
Travel to relevant locations including offices, courts, prisons and service user residences where necessary.
Essential Requirements
Possession of a Probation Qualification Framework Graduate Diploma / Honours Degree in Community Justice with Level 5 Diploma in Probation Practice, or a recognised equivalent qualification (such as Diploma in Probation Studies, Diploma in Social Work with Probation Option or CQSW with Probation Option).
Evidence of working for a recognised probation services provider within the last 5 years.
Experience supporting people on probation or vulnerable individuals with complex social and personal needs.
Knowledge and experience of risk and needs assessment tools, including OASys, SARA and RSR.
Experience managing relationships across criminal justice agencies to manage risk and improve outcomes.
Experience writing detailed reports to strict deadlines including court reports and parole reports.
Experience working with diverse communities, promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
Ability to use probation systems such as NDelius and OASys to maintain accurate records.
Knowledge of MAPPA arrangements and criminal justice processes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to travel for work and work flexibly when required.
