Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for a Senior Probation Officer for a part time contract with the Probation Service in London

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Senior Probation Officer (SPO) across the Probation Service Estate. The role offers the chance to manage teams, contribute to public protection, and lead improvements in offender management. You will be responsible for delivering high standards of performance while working closely with multi-agency partners.

The post is paying 
£25.53 per hour PAYE or £33.61 per hour via an umbrella company

Overview of the Role
Team management across Offender Management Units:

• Ensure delivery of effective offender management to achieve public protection and reduce re-offending

• Lead and manage team activity to meet operational and strategic goals

• Implement policies and practices to deliver high performance standards

• Collaborate with partners to ensure multi-agency action on individual cases

• Support change management and continuous improvement in service quality

Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise teams, including day-to-day people and performance management
• Contribute directly to public protection through case review, discussion, and feedback
• Maintain accurate records using Probation Service systems (NDelius, OASys)
• Implement health and safety policies within the team
• Uphold operational standards, policies, and good practice in offender management
• Develop and sustain effective multi-agency working relationships
• Ensure team compliance with national standards and local policy requirements
• Accept reasonable alterations and additional tasks as required

Person Specification

• Probation Qualification Framework Graduate Diploma / Honours Degree in Community Justice integrated with Level 5 Diploma in Probation Practice, or an equivalent recognised qualification
• Recent experience working for a recognised provider of probation services
• Manager-level experience with people and performance management
• Experience in public protection and multi-agency collaboration
• Knowledge of risk assessment, offender management, and public protection policies
• Ability to manage change and improve quality and efficiency
• Competent in using Probation Service IT systems (NDelius, OASys)
• Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines
• Flexible, including occasional evenings and weekends

• Understanding of Criminal Justice System and Probation Service legislation and standards
